Group Website Pitch

Problem

I think there is a big need for more knowledge on recruiting, interviewing, networking and much more for students entering the workforce. A lot of my friends constantly have questions about how to prepare for an interview and lack a go to resource to get that information quickly and efficiently. While certain classes, like business communication classes, can share this knowledge, it isn’t something that’s well known across all the majors offered here at USC. Furthermore, starting off finding a job or internship can feel very overwhelming because there is so much to do, ranging from refining your resume to getting your foot into an industry by building network connections.

Solution

This website will address the problem in two ways: have in depth guides on specific topics as well as centralize resources that help make the job searching process faster. While recruiting differs across industries, things like navigating common behavioral questions and setting up coffee chats are applicable for almost every job. The site would also include things like templates for answering interview and application questions, guides for keeping track of a growing network and even testimonials for students who’ve made it in the industry.

Analysis

There are a lot of blogs and job searching sites out there, some of which have very relevant information for students. This website would make it easy for students to access those sites without wasting time going through the bad ones. Competition for this includes LinkedIn, personal blog sites and general career services on colleges.

Impact and Vision

Hopefully, this website will have made the entire job hunting process a lot less intimidating for students of all majors and backgrounds. Ideally, this website will start to actually help people land that internship and will get spread around because people pass it on. While this could start out as a specific USC site, it could easily shift to other school and even non-college students, like high schoolers.
